Advertising your books.

For the aspiring author, it is important to be familiar with potential publishers as well as the distribution channel they can offer. Eventually, much of the success of your book will fall on the quality of the publisher and their ability to push the book through the appropriate distribution channels. I would recommend contacting a well established publisher that has plenty of expertise and success in the publishing field. A seasoned publisher is your best choice if you want your book to actually make it to stores.

Ride the Coattails of Books a Million

Keep in mind that if your book doesn?t ever make it to the bookshelves nobody will ever have the opportunity to buy it and read it, meaning you will have to find another job. The best publishers will make sure your book makes it to the biggest retail book stores. In addition to the traditional book retail stores such as Borders and Barnes and Noble, you will definitely want your book on the shelves of a Books a Million store. If you haven?t heard of Books a Million yet, perhaps it is time that you do. Books a Million is growing rapidly and is beginning to compete directly with Borders and Barnes and Noble. Of course it is obvious you want your book to be featured on the shelves of Borders and B&N, but Books a Million is the hot new book retailer right now.

Books a Million was actually founded in 1918, but has since grown to include more than 200 stores. These stores are found primarily in the southern and eastern section of the United States, with locations in 18 states as well as Washington D.C. Because Books a Million is growing so rapidly, their ability to introduce your book to new markets will help prolong the shelf life of your book.

As I have stated before, getting your book sold at the largest books stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble is very important, but this is not always possible. These companies are so large that the competition to fill their shelves is very intense, so it may be in your best interest to build a relationship through your publisher with a smaller growing company like Books a Million. That way you can get your foot in the door, begin to make a profit off your book, and as Books a Million grows so shall your audience.

Double Your Profits with a Book on Tape

In addition to marketing your book through the major brick and mortar retailers, you might also consider publishing your book in a different format. Have you ever thought of turning your book into a book on tape? Making a book on tape helps expand the potential audience base for your book, thereby increasing your potential for profits and fortifying your continued existence as a thriving author.

Of course a book on tape can be sold through the usual channels, such as Books a Million, but you can also digitalize your book on tape and strike a deal with Audible.com to sell your book on tape in digital audio format. Digital audio is a rapidly growing market thanks to the popularity of mp3 players, particularly the ubiquitous iPod. Creating a synergistic relationship with this new technology that has just taken off in recent years will help reinvent books as we know them, and for that matter it will also reinvent the book on tape. Now, instead of buying a book on tape, you can download the book in a digital audio format and listen to the book wherever you go. The market demanding this type of book is rapidly growing.

As an author it is important that you are in tune with the direction the book retail market is taking. You can?t afford to miss the opportunity to build lasting relationships with growing retailers like Books a MillionFree Reprint Articles, nor can you afford to miss the boat with digital audio and the incremental sales and profits that are associated with those new markets.

Home Improvement Books

Home improvement books are just as common as magazines and catalogues. They are not full of the same information though, they tend to stick on true stories or architectural designers stories! Home improvement books are more than light reading in fact I would consider them heavy reading especially for those who want a project to be simple splash of paint. If this is the case then don't bother purchasing a home improvement book as it is a waste of money and time reading it.

The books that are usually on sale are by pure professionals and no less. They go into extreme detail how they managed to get their projects completed, how they paid for it and how much it cost them in total. Books are more for people with an interest in home improvement and who use it as a hobby, books are not recommended for those who just want to do some improvements to their homes, reading the book will just completely put them off and make them change their mind.

The avid home improvement reader will know who all the top authors are and the top titles, so I don't have to do into detail about them, but what you do need to know is that these books are extremely detailed and long to read, you have to really love the subject to read about it, otherwise there is not much point in buying one as you will get a few pages in and fall asleep, unless of course that it what you are after...a bed time story?

Home improvement books are like gold for home improvement enthusiasts! They thoroughly enjoy reading the content and well who can blame them, everyone to their own I suppose! Just remember this though that these books are NOT for the small projects people, these books will only bore and tire you, these are for people who want to do full blown house building and extensions! If you want something to help you along with smaller projects then invest in a small magazine or a catalogue just don't invest in one of these books as it will definitely put you off home improvements!

Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo]

Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo]
No stranger to the realm of children's records, They Might Be Giants have seen success with their CD No! and the book-and-CD combo Bed, Bed, Bed. Their latest CD, Here Come the ABCs, offers up 25 alphabetically themed songs. However, as is their charming way, the two Johns (Flansburgh and Linnell), use the letters as merely the connective tissue, allowing them to pursuit intriguing flights of fancy that consider everything from the relative power of letters and sounds to animal hijinks. Just as they've always done, there are wistful ballads and high octane rockers. TMBG have always been a family-friendly band, and this disc works just fine for adult fans, who can rightfully consider this simply their newest release. --David Greenberger

Customer Review: Great fun for everyone!

What a great, fun album! Our 23 month old has been listening to it for about 6 months now, and loves to speak along to it. Different songs are favorites at different times. My husband and I think it is catchy and fun for us, too. If your toddler is going to demand songs be repeated "one more time" as our does, these are songs you can listen to, too, "one more time" ad infinitum (almost). You even learn to sing the alphabet backward!

Customer Review: Great!

Here's another great hit by They Might Be Giants. Wonderful music and I loved the CD/DVD music combo. I don't think you can go wrong with this musical group for children.

Womens Cowhide Leather MultiPurpose Double Zipper Wallet

Womens Cowhide Leather MultiPurpose Double Zipper Wallet
Ladies wallet double zipper. Size IS 7.5 inch Length and 4.5 inch width. Color Choice: Black, Brown, Tan & Burgundy. Thanks for shopping at Apparel Village.

Customer Review: Good Wallet!

Very good wallet made better by the great price! This one is a replacement for a similar style wallet in vinyl that I've had for 10 years. The zipper on this new wallet is much sturdier than the old one and so are the zipper pulls! The "offensive odor" mentioned by a previous reviewer is a leather smell which some people find quite pleasant (can't please all of the people all of the time?). I expect this wallet to last at least as long or longer than my old vinyl one. My only complaint (?) is that once I had everything in the wallet the detachable check book didn't fit as well...which for me is no big deal because I generally don't carry my checkbook with me...it could be a problem for someone who does. Otherwise, a very good buy!!

Customer Review: Idea great. Quality poor

I liked the concept of this wallet. Plenty of storage and organizational features. I returned it because a part of the inside was not quality made. The area had ripped away from where it was supposed to be. The company was great in a prompt refund. It may be that the wallet I purchased was just defective, and had I exchanged it for another, it might have been fine. I instead opted for a refund.

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61)

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61)
The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2,000,000 copy bestselling inspirational book, The Power of Now

With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now." In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.

The Power of Now was a question-and-answer handbook. A New Earth has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of life—and for building a better world.

About the Author

ECKHART TOLLE is a contemporary spiritual teacher who is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. In his writing and seminars, he conveys a simple yet profound message with the timeless and uncomplicated clarity of the ancient spiritual masters: There is a way out of suffering and into peace. Eckhart travels extensively, taking his teachings throughout the world.

Customer Review: A NEW EARTH

THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BOOK OF THE DECADE! A MARVELOUS WORK! WE CAN'T PUT IT DOWN! OUR EYES WERE OPENED BEFORE, BUT NOW EVEN WIDER! A NEW EARTH IS A MUST READ. THIS LITTLE ORANGE BOOK IS A STANDOUT IN A CROWD. IT STRIKES UP CONVERSATIONS WITH STRANGERS WHO ARE NOW NO LONGER STRANGERS.

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time

Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban’s backyard

Anyone who despairs of the individual’s power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan’s treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools—especially for girls—that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson’s quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, Three Cups of Tea combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

Customer Review: A MUST READ!

Truly inspiring. I'm trying to think of how to get our country's leaders to read this amazing book. It spoke to me, as I have long believed that terrorism must be fought with education, giving people of the world hope and the means to achieve a better life. I hope that all the others who have reviewed this book have been moved to make a contribution to this very worthy cause, as I have!

Customer Review: A "must-read"

This book is a "must read" for anyone who is serious about trying to understand what is happening (and what can happen) in the name of promoting peace in the world. This book is well-written and significant.

Customer Review: Better than a microscope!

Well, my son is not much into toys - eventhough he's only 9, he prefers books and videogames(which I do not allow him to have). He almost never asks for a toy so I got this for him and we all ended up enjoying it. It is amazing - especially if you have an LCD screen to watch it on. Hair, skin, saliva, salt, pepper, sugar, we just go crazy with the things we want to inspect. It was worth the money!! It is fun and educational by arousing scientific curiosity in our son.

Customer Review: Lives Up to Its Avdvertisement

Extremely easy to put together and get started. I have no negative comments about this product. Anyone who purchases it should enjoy it. It is exactly as advertised.

Would buy again.

The Adventures of Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark/ Temple of Doom/ Last Crusade) - Widescreen Edition

The Adventures of Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark/ Temple of Doom/ Last Crusade) - Widescreen Edition
As with Star Wars, the George Lucas-produced Indiana Jones trilogy was not just a plaything for kids but an act of nostalgic affection toward a lost phenomenon: the cliffhanging movie serials of the past. Episodic in structure and with fate hanging in the balance about every 10 minutes, the Jones features tapped into Lucas's extremely profitable Star Wars formula of modernizing the look and feel of an old, but popular, story model. Steven Spielberg directed all three films, which are set in the late 1930s and early '40s: the comic book-like Raiders of the Lost Ark, the spooky, Gunga Din-inspired Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the cautious but entertaining Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Fans and critics disagree over the order of preference, some even finding the middle movie nearly repugnant in its violence. (Pro-Temple of Doom people, on the other hand, believe that film to be the most disarmingly creative and emotionally effective of the trio.) One thing's for sure: Harrison Ford's swaggering, two-fisted, self-effacing performance worked like a charm, and the art of cracking bullwhips was probably never quite the iconic activity it soon became after Raiders. Supporting players and costars were very much a part of the series, too--Karen Allen, Sean Connery (as Indy's dad), Kate Capshaw, Ke Huy Quan, Amrish Puri, Denholm Elliot, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies among them. Years have passed since the last film (another is supposedly in the works), but emerging film buffs can have the same fun their predecessors did picking out numerous references to Hollywood classics and B-movies of the past. --Tom Keogh

Customer Review: A Must Own Collection

These films are no doubt part of American Cinema at it's best!

I grew up watching these movies and even today when I sit back and watch them, I appreciate them even more as if it's my first time tunning in.

The locations, the acting, the screenplay all work perfectly. I don't think there are words left to describe how amazing this collection is on DVD.

I heard George Lucas is set to release these films on it's own soon, but why bother? Why spend your money on the same thing, even if your going to get some new bonus features. It's not like your getting a brand new movie.

I would recommend to wait until the 4th installment hits DVD shelves, then maybe it would be worth a purchase if it gets released into the box set. Till then...this collection is timeless!

Customer Review: captions

At least on the set I'm watching, the captions on the extra disc are attempted but are NOT well done. It's apparent that they haven't been "cleaned up," so understanding can be iffy. I appreciate the effort, but it would be nice if the execution were better.

If you are visiting Orlando Florida and looking for a vacation home rental, there is great news. There is a huge oversupply of vacation homes available for rent. This means deals to be had abound.  For about the price of a mid-market hotel room, you can rent a fully equipped home with your own private pool and do as much self-catering in a full kitchen as you like.  This would certainly help you cut down on your dining and entertainment bills.

Ebooks Are Fun To Read

Ebooks Are Fun To Read

By Polly Hummingbird

Have you ever read a book in the middle of the night with
only a flashlight as your source of light?

Reading an ebook is fun to read in the same sort of way.

Staring at a computer screen for a long time is not really
good for your eyes, anymore than a flashlight in the dark
is, but it's fun to read a book using your computer.

You scroll down the page to read and click buttons to turn
the pages.

The graphics and text enhancements of an ebook are more
fabulous than a printed book. Even the print size and
line-spacing are better.

Once you have everything set up and ready to go for
ebook reading, the possible adventures ahead of you are
endless.

Almost any kind of book can be downloaded in electronic
format. Novels. How-to books. Articles. Email courses.
You name it.

Apart from your PC, the only other thing you need to is
an "ebook reader". There are two well-known programs
that do this. One is "Microsoft Reader" and the other is
"Acrobat Ebook Reader". Once you have downloaded
one of these programs onto your hard-drive you can open
any ebook and begin to read it.

Many ebooks are free but even the ones you pay for are
not expensive. Prices range from three to thirty US dollars.

The next time you are prowling around in the middle of the
night, looking for something to do, try snapping on your PC
and dive into an adventure of a thrilling ebook.

The elegant case takes up very little space.
Installation is a breeze because you don't really "install" anything -- just plug it in and it's ready to use. There is not even an installation CD because all the included software loads automatically from the hard drive the first time you plug it in. For cream-of-the-crop, high-speed performance, use My Book Premium's FireWire 400 interface. However, if FireWire 400 isn't convenient, Western Digital has you covered -- the My Book Premium hard drive is also compatible with USB 2.0 connectivity. Best of all, you don't have to choose between one or the other because both interfaces are built into every drive.

Western Digital provides software (WD Backup) that makes backing up your data as easy as possible. With a few simple steps you can back up all your data files, or just save your picture and music files. You can also schedule routine backups so you don't have to worry about it ever again. Built for ease of use, this drive is equipped with a capacity gauge that shows how much space is left on your drive. The My Book Premium also includes intelligent drive management features. For example, the drive turns itself on and off with your computer, and Safe Shutdown prevents the drive from being powered down until all your data has been written.

But that's not all. Western Digital uses a smart design to make the My Book Premium look as good as it performs. The elegant case resembles a book and takes up very little space on your desk. Plus, it stacks horizontally and allows two or more drives to nestle neatly together like encyclopedias on a shelf. • Automatic backups of your existing hard drive
  • Archiving the music stored on your MP3 player
  • Adding plenty of space for digital video capture and editing
  • Saving and organizing your digital photo collection
Note: For basic, less expensive storage option without automatic backup software, consider the My Book Essential Edition 500 GB Hard Drive.

What's in the Box
My Book Premium 500 GB USB 2.0/FireWire external hard drive, USB cable, FireWire cable (six-pin to six-pin), AC adapter with power cord, and quick install guide.

Customer Review: Great!

It is a great product. I mostly use it to back up information. I even used it to back up my videogame data from my Playstation3.

Customer Review: It died a week after the warranty expired

My WD 500Gb "Premium Edition" just died a week after the warranty expired. This hard drive has been a piece of junk since day one, all I have now is piece of garbage that makes annoying clicks when you turn it on; boy you talk about trowing $$$.$$ down the drain. DO NOT waste your money on any of these external drives made by Western Digital.

Ghosts of Onyx (Halo)

Ghosts of Onyx (Halo)
Continuing the saga of the award-winning XboxG game! The Spartan-II program has gone public. Tales of super-soldiers fending off thousands of Covenant attacks have become the stuff of legend. But just how many Spartans are left? While the Master Chief defends a besieged Earth, and the myriad factions of the Covenant continue their crusade to eliminate humanity, an ultrasecret cell of the Office of Naval Intelligence known as 'Section Three' devises a plan to buy the UNSC vital time. They're going to need hundreds of willing soldiers, though . . . and one more Spartan to get the job done. The planet Onyx is virtually abandoned and the perfect place to set this new plan in motion. But when the Master Chief destroys Halo, something is triggered deep within Onyx: Ancient Forerunner technology stirs, and fleets of UNSC and Covenant race to claim it to change the course of the Human-Covenant War.But this reawakened and ancient force may have plans of its own. . . This novel is based on a mature-rated game. Microsoft, the Microsoft Game Studios Logo, Bungie, the Bungie Logo, Halo, the Halo logo, Xbox, and the Xbox logos are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries and are used under license from owner.

Customer Review: Awsome Prequel to Halo 3

This book was done remarkably well, despite the absense of Master Chief. You really get to know the other Spartans better...almost to the point that you just about tear up when they get mortally wounded. It mentions the civil war going on between the Elites and the rest of the Convenant, but still keeps the Elites in the villian spotlight. The ending of the book was definately NOT what I was expecting, but, given the plots of the 3 games, you shouldn't be too suprised. All in all, it's probably the best book in the series.

Customer Review: Halo, Ghosts of Onix

After reading it twice over I realised it had a few to many cross over plots with the other books. It would have been good to be released with the other three box book set however because it wasnt there are constant references back to different plots. It also introduces a few things that arnt in the other books however should have been and reveals that its been written after and not along side the other series. Overall if you can look past unexplained differences between different technologies and times or if you read it without reading the other three then it has a good plot and delivery of material well timed.

Cranium Hullabaloo

Cranium Hullabaloo
This game is sort of like Twister meets Simon Says. Lay the Hullabaloo pads around on the floor about two 'kid's feet' away from each other. The pads are different shapes and colors and have pictures and words on them. Turn on the game console and the cheerful music begins, a happy voice welcomes you to the game and then gives the simple directions you'll need to play. "Jump on a square shape," "Slide over to a red shape," "Hop to a shape with an animal on it" and so on. Then it might tell you to freeze, or to put a body part on one pad, and then a different body part on another. Then, it'll tell you that if you are on a particular pad at the end of that round, you are the winner. We found it to be fun, and easy to understand--though we did wonder how long it might hold a child's interest. --Megan Sullivan

Customer Review: kids LOVE this

This is one of those toys that gets the kids up an moving. Fun music, fun 'rewards' = "do a silly dance". they LOVE it. I am always looking for ways to 'reach' my boy who has autism. This just helps initiate play.

Customer Review: Children probably need to be at least five years old

I was so excited to get this toy after reading all of the awards that it had won. We have a 4, soon to be 5, little girl and a just turned 2 girl as well. I thought that at least the 4 year old could really enjoy it with her sister just "acting" like she was playing along. These girls are both very bright, but I believe that it will take another 6 months for them to be able to really play this together. I may have to sit down with them and just reveiw all of the different shapes and colors and drawings that are on the pads that the game is centered around. I had their Dad sit down with them because I was busy cooking breakfast......I think that someone with a little more patience has to be prepared to sit down with the young ones and maybe review the items with them.......other than that, I can't wait until I get the chance to do it with them.....it seems like a lot of fun for them and my kind of toy....educational.

Customer Review: Worthwile Upgrade

If you are a user or TurboTax Business and Quickbooks, then you will find this a worthwhile upgrade. Additionally, I have been using this version on Vista Home Premium 64 Bit and it is working fine.

Customer Review: WARNING! - QuickBooks is Adware

Unless you like reading pop up ads, don't buy this software. QuickBooks Pro forces you to suffer through a constant barrage of pop up ads for addtional services, products and upgrades. I just spoke to customer service and they told me there is no way to disable this feature. I can understand being forced to read ads for free software, but I am stunned that I am forced to read ads in a piece of software that I paid for. The next time I am forced to upgrade (QuickBooks stops supporting older versions of their software after just a few years) I'll just switch to one of their competitors.

Customer Review: okay

The Ball Blue canning book is not as good as the Kerr canning book. Maybe it is a matter of taste but I found this one a bit cluttered.

Save and back up all your digital assets with the My Book Premium Edition Hard Drive. View larger.

Simple, easy-to-use design.

Hard drive features dual interface connectivity (FireWire 400 and USB 2.0). View larger.

Inside the stylish exterior is an exceptionally fast, ultra-quiet, cool-running hard drive. Last but not least, the My Book Premium is equipped with free Google software that searches your drives, manages your photos, and simplifies Web searches.

My Book Premium Edition Hard Drives are ideal for:

  • High-speed backup of important documents and images
  • Extra storage for your computer

6. "Mumbo Jumbo," by Ishmael Reed, called "an idiosyncratic celebration of multiculturism," it takes a lot of swings at Western culture.

8. "The Color of Purple," by Alice Walker, a winner of the Pulitzer Price for fiction and the American Book Award.

9. "Beloved," by Toni Morrison, ; best seller and winner of the Pulitzer prize for fiction.

10. "Devil in a Blue Dress," by William Mosley, a mystery in the classic tradition, mixes "the hard-boiled poetry of Raymond Chandler with the racial realism of Richard Wright to explosive effect," says the Barnes and Noble review.

Discover the Real Bush War (Part I)Scot Aaron

Is war inevitable! Are you "for" or "against" military action? What of the UN? Discover facts about: the Gulf War, US support of Saddam Hussein in the Iraq-Iran War (1980-88), and US involvement with Bin Laden and the "Afghan Jihad" (1979-89).
As I sit down and write this article on Tuesday Night February 18, 2003 from my office in Germany, the Bush (or Bush/Blair) War appears inevitable. Why is this?

Is it time to bash President Bush and his policies? Or should we chant Bush slogans?

Bush stated in his recent State of the Union, "We are called to defend the safety of our people, and the hopes of all mankind. And we accept this responsibility." Do you believe that it is America's responsibility to protect so-called FREEDOMS for the entire world? Many might remember the United State's embarrassing role in the Nicaraguan civil war, or even Vietnam!

As an online reader, you, like everyone else has probably already chosen sides. Are you "pro" or "anti" the Bush War? Whether you gravitate towards 1) espousing Bush's war rhetoric in protecting America's freedoms, or 2) you agree that UN weapons inspectors should continue with their job, I ask that you temporarily back away from any forlorn conclusions and discover the REAL BUSH WAR.

Ultimately, the Bush War -- like so many wars -- is about money and power. This goes much deeper than oil! I would like to take a brief journey through both recent and ancient history and discuss the foundation of Bush's beliefs. We all know that he believes in Iraq's regime change and this means war. As we unravel the situation, you just might discover facts that you did not know before, along with historical realities you have not thought so much about.

FACT: On Friday February 14, 2003 the United Nations' 15 member Security Council agreed to continue the weapons inspection, ruling out the use of military force. France, Russia, and China, along with Germany, the Vatican and rulers of many other countries are overwhelmingly against the Bush War.

FACT: The US led the Gulf War with Iraq in 1991. Kuwait was a part of southern Iraq through most of the Islamic Ottoman Empire spanning from 1290-1923. The national boundaries making Kuwait and Iraq into separate countries were primarily established after World War II when the British released most of their imperialistic territories. As always, Britain and other allies tried to hold on to economic (oil) interests by establishing pro-British leaders. Petroleum is Kuwait's primary natural resource. Kuwait is one of the tiniest countries (about 120 x 110 miles) but owns approximately 10% of the world's oil reserves. The per person GNP is higher than Italy, Israel, and more than 10 times Iraq. (According to the 2000 GNP report of the World Bank and OECD, Kuwait has $19,040 per person versus $1650 for Iraqis.)

Before making a value judgement on Saddam Hussein's principles for taking over Kuwait in 1990, I could listen to both viewpoints dealing with oil, territorial boundaries, debt, Israel, UN favoritism, and other issues. Regardless of an opinion on Iraq and those countries for or against Iraq's takeover of Kuwait, the UN Security Council passed their resolution on November 29, 1990. Member states could "use all necessary means" to force Iraq from Kuwait, if Iraq did not depart by January 15, 1991.

FACT: The government of the United States provided weapons and support to Iraq during the Iraq-Iran War of 1980-1988.

Rather than detail this war, it is known that the United States was against the Iranian regime change of 1979. The Shah of Iran was overthrown because of his corruption and ties to the US and western powers which primarily revolved around Iranian oil fields. The Shiite Muslim leader Ayatollah Khomeini took over and severed any interactions with the US and western powers. Fearing that the US would intervene and reestablish the Shah who fled to the US, Iranian students took 66 American hostages from the US Embassy. It was during this Iran Hostage Crisis that the US supported Saddam Hussein in Iraq attacking Iran.

FACT: America provided Bin Laden and the "Afghan Jihad" fighters with weapons and military training!

The US used their weapons and military technologies to fight against Russian Communists in their war against Afghanistan from 1979-1989. In other words, in an indirect way, certain American policies led to the terrorist attacks of September 11th. After the Afghan war was over, what would these Muslim, US-trained soldiers do? They had to fight for some cause! Bin Laden happened to inspire the soldiers to fight against the spread of Americanism and western culture which seemed to go against Islamic values.

The first few facts can be read in many history books about modern Middle East. Interpretations of the events will vary though. To help establish the US and Bin Laden, I will quote from the introduction of my current book, "Love Your Neighbors? Discover the Real World Religions."

[The situation concerning the 1993 WTC bombing and events behind the September 11th attacks are more complex than most recognize. In order to "fight" against communism, three presidential administrations (Carter, Ford and Reagan) performed covert activities through the CIA. A key element was to train Islamic men in the war against the communists in Afghanistan (1979-89), aptly referred to as the "Afghan jihad," the holy war in Afghanistan. America's activities helped establish the Taliban regime and allowed bin Laden to gain his supporters. Bin Laden stated: "To counter these atheist Russians, the Saudis chose me as their representative in Afghanistan. ... I settled in Pakistan in the Afghan border region. There I received volunteers who came from the Saudi Kingdom and from all over the Arab and Muslim countries. I set up my first camp where these volunteers were trained by Pakistani and American officers. The weapons were supplied by the Americans, the money by the Saudis. I discovered that it was not enough to fight in Afghanistan, but that we had to fight on all fronts, communist or Western oppression." (Ahmed Rashid, Taliban: Militant Islam, Oil and Fundamentalism in Central Asia, Yale University Press: New Haven, 1999, p. 132) It was, "A strange love affair which went disastrously wrong: the alliance, during the second half of the twentieth century, between the United States of America and some of the most conservative and fanatical followers of Islam." (John K. Cooley, Unholy Wars: Afghanistan, America and International Terrorism, Pluto Press: London, 1999, p. 1) See the books quoted from more information.]

I hope that the facts I have presented are stimulating enough to open the pathways of discovery. Stay tuned to your ezine or magazine for my next sections of "Discover the Real Bush War!" After this introductory article, I will go to the imperialistic mindset Bush adopts in his War. The follow up article will go from a comment made by a prior United States Secretary of State only yesterday, all the way back to Plato and his Republic. Discover why Bush is choosing to spend trillions of dollars and multiply the US deficit (what you and your children will have to pay back). Here I will trace the economic theorist John Keynes, who was a British delegate at the UN's Bretton Woods Conference in 1944. This was what led to the creation of the IMF (International Monetary Fund).

Goosebumps -The Haunted Mask

Goosebumps -The Haunted Mask
Carly Beth is quiet and shy -- easily scared and overly trusting. She's never seen such a great Halloween mask -- really scary, really creepy, and really life-like. She has to have it -- to scare those boys who tease and humiliate her all the time! And when she does get it, the mask is every bit as weirdly spooky as she had hoped it would be. But wearing the mask seems to be causing strange things to happen to her and other people. Can the mask -- the symbol of her revenge -- be the cause of it all? What strange powers could a Halloween mask have? Unwilling to give up the mask, or to believe that it could be evil, she keeps on wearing it -- only to discover one day that she can't take the mask off. Carly Beth and the mask have become one.

Customer Review: Haunted Mask ( Not Creepy )

When Carly scares her little brother with the mask in the hallway, in the backround there is a ghost sticker on the wall, I have that same thing. That was a weird connection between I do kind of like the movie. Not creepy, I don't find any goosebumps movie creepy, if you do, you must be a total douche! The effects are lame but it is still a nice movie, the scene with the floating heads was right on retarded! Carly Beth should've always been a geek so easy to scare! But they still made cool changes to the movie to make it real cool with a plot. I don't get if they are possessed or if they are just to warped up on the mask?

Grade: B

Customer Review: Crazy!!

The Haunted Mask book was crazy scary, but the movie is much creepier, because of the visual effects. The masks looked realistic, and when it was stuck to Carli Beth's face, it was really creepy. This is a really terrifying and well done movie/episode, and easily a great addition to Goosebumps fans' collections.

This article on book review may leave you speculating about book review. Hope this speculation also leads to better understanding about book review.

Are you getting the most out of your ebooks?

Are you getting the most out of your ebooks?
by Jogena (c) copyright 2005

Caution! Handle with care! That ebook you just downloaded may be the next best thing to a winning lottery ticket.

Well... maybe I'm exaggerating a bit. O. K., a lot. But eBooks have become mainstream in the online world and they are great learning tools. Especially so for internet marketers

It seems that everyone is looking for the next big blockbuster ebook that's going to solve all their marketing and sales issues.

The problem is that many people don't take the time to read what they've already bought or downloaded for free. They skim the chapters looking for a silver bullet and when it doesn't jump out at them, they go buy or
download another.

The simple fact is that there is no silver bullet and learning what it takes to succeed online takes time and patience.

What you may not realize is that you may already have the answers you are seeking sitting on your hard drive right now.

If a sales page isn't performing as well as you like, take a few minutes to review that copywriting ebook you downloaded. If your traffic isn't where you want it, review the website promotion ebook you downloaded. You may find that you had "forgotten" or "didn't catch" a lot of what you needed to learn the first time you opened them.

So, before you jump to the next "best thing" in ebooks, take a little time to actually read what you already have.

You may even discover a few other uses for those ebooks as well. For instance, they can be great sources for article ideas, give you copywritng tips and be used as a resource for product creation.

But, whatever you do, keep on reading and learning!

Are you getting the most out of your ebooks?
